  36. As I've said somewhere else, the problem was software.  If you treat the Zip Drive as a 
  37. tape drive, in the manual it says to use the command "gvpscsictrl 005 DCOFF" (if Zip is 
  38. unit 5 obviously). I've put this in my startup sequence and it has completely cured the 
  39. problem.  Apparently it turns off synchronous transfers when the Zip drive is 
  40. accessing.  I can't see any performance difference other than the fact it doesn't crash 
  41. anymore.  ;-)

  45. The icon file says version v 4.5, but a hex read of the device says v4.13.  Take your 
  46. pick.

  48. By the way, can anyone explain what the gvppatch program (from aminet) actually does 
  49. (the docs are in German).  Do I need it now that my system is absolutely stable?  I am 
  50. still disappointed with the 650k(ish)/sec from the Zip drive, though.  Anyone know a 
  51. cure?
